To mark the unveiling of their annual leading first-season sire market, RaceBets have generously sponsored four £50 charity bets.

So the Racing Post has contacted a quartet of industry figures to get their pick of the value of which freshmen would field the most individual winners up to November 29, and to nominate a good cause any winnings would go to.

Mick Flanagan, bloodstock agent

Choice Gleneagles at 6-1

Charity Irish Injured Jockeys Fund

Gleneagles was just a top-class horse and he's from one of the very best families in the studbook. He came from a great stable in Aidan O'Brien, who'll surely send out plenty of winners by him this year. He's by Galileo but Ballydoyle have shown with the right breeding and handling that Galileo can get early two-year-old winners and I expect it to be the same case for his son.

Hugh Hyland, Oghill House Stud

Choice Muhaarar at 11-4

Charity Irish Injured Jockeys Fund

It should be close between Muhaarar and Gutaifan but I'll go with Muhaarar. He was precocious enough to win in the May of his two-year-old career, he seemed to go on any ground and his times were excellent. To win four consecutive Group 1 races, three of which were against his elders, takes some doing. He had some nice yearlings at the sales we were at last year and it will be a surprise if he doesn't do well.

Bumble Mitchell, breeder and consignor

Choice Night Of Thunder at 9-1

Charity Racing Welfare

I've seen some very nice young horses by Night Of Thunder – they've been very strong, forward types. The ones I've dealt with have also had really good attitudes and I'm putting my money where my mouth is by using him again this year.

Tom Pritchard-Gordon, bloodstock agent

Choice Night Of Thunder at 9-1

Charity Cancer Research

Night Of Thunder looks the value in the market. He's got some good-looking stock who walk particularly well. They sold well as yearlings and therefore should be with the right trainers this year.
