Godolphin back with a 'measured' approach

Godolphin entered the European yearling market for the first time in 2020 at Arqana, and walked away from the Deauville auction having acquired three new recruits at a total outlay of €1,980,000.

The trio were headed by a €1.1 million Kingman colt out of a sibling to Stacelita, included day one's top lot, the €620,000 Dubawi filly out of Daytona Bay, and were completed by a €260,000 son of Lope De Vega.

After the operation's long-serving talent scout Anthony Stroud had signed for the Lope De Vega colt during day one's early exchanges, the agent was asked about the level to which he expected Godolphin to participate in the sale. His answer was brief but potentially revealing with regards to the remainder of the sales season.
