Blue Bresil on the move from Yorton Farm to Glenview Stud
Son of Smadoun has sired talents such as Mick Jazz and Le Prezien
Promising jumps sire Blue Bresil is to relocate from Yorton Farm in Powys, Wales to Glenview Stud in Fermoy, County Cork, for the 2020 breeding season.
The son of Smadoun has enjoyed a successful few years in the sales ring and with his runners.
Tom Malone and Paul Nicholls teamed up to buy the three-year-old gelding out of Maralypha for €200,000 at this year's Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale, while Donnchadh Doyle sold Big Bresil, a runner-up to the hugely exciting Papa Tango Charly on his only start in a Liscarroll maiden, for £170,000 to Roger Brookhouse at the Aintree Sale in April.
On the track Blue Bresil has been responsible for Grade 1-winning hurdler and Champion Hurdle third Mick Jazz, and the Cheltenham Festival-winning pair Ibis Du Rheu and Le Prezien, the latter also successful in Grade 2 company.
Nigel Twiston-Davies has another nice type by the sire in his yard in Blue Flight, who claimed the scalp of Black Corton in a Listed chase at Kelso in March before finishing fourth in the Scottish Grand National.
"Blue Bresil is a proven Grade 1-producing sire," said Catherine Cashman of Glenview and Rathbarry Studs.
"What he's done so far, he's done it from very limited crops. He didn't really cover any big books until he came to England, so he's really had to do it the hard way. We're hopeful the best is yet to come, especially when those bigger crops start coming through.
"Nowadays the emphasis is on size and scope at the sales. Blue Bresil is 16.3 hands high and he seems to be transferring that on to his progeny."
Blue Bresil was an adept dual purpose horse and was placed multiple times in Pattern company on the Flat and over jumps. He initially took up stud duties at Haras de la Croix Sonnet before relocating to Yorton Farm in 2016, where he stood at a career-high fee of £6,000 this year.
Blue Bresil will stand alongside Malinas, Shirocco, Sholokhov and Youmzain at Glenview Stud for the 2020 breeding season, and his fee will be announced at a later stage.
