Zarak, a blue blooded first-season sire at the Aga Khan's Haras de Bonneval, was supplied with his first winner on Tuesday when Times Square struck in Deauville for Christophe Ferland.

The two-year-old filly came home by a length and a quarter in the extended seven-furlong maiden for owner-breeder Allan Belshaw. She is out of the unraced Siyouni mare See You Always, from the family of seven-furlong specialist Welsh Emperor and Irish Derby hero and Haras de la Tuilerie's new sire Latrobe.

Ferland said: "Maxime Guyon found a nice tow into the race and she came there easily under a hand ride. She eased up a bit when she hit the front but she was always doing enough.

"She still has more physical improvement to come and we'll step her up in trip next time."

The high-class Zarak is a son of Dubawi and the Aga Khan's unbeaten Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe heroine Zarkava, herself a five-time Group 1 winner for Alain de Royer Dupre

A winner on his sole start at two, the Aga Khan homebred was second to Almanzor in the Prix du Jockey Club and placed a further two times in Group company at three.

At four, the colt won the Dubai Millennium Stakes in Meydan on his first start before notching up a first top-level triumph in the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud that July.

A half-brother to the stakes-winning Group 1-placed Zarkamiya and the Listed-winning Zaykava, Zarak retired to stud for the 2018 breeding season at a fee of €12,000.

The eight-year-old has 85 first-crop juveniles to represent him this year.
