Galileo filly Zagitova skates clear of rivals on second start
Moyglare Stud Stakes entry is a half-sister to freshman sire Garswood
Zagitova - a Galileo half-sister to first-season sire Garswood - had her seven rivals toiling when winning the opening fillies' maiden over a mile on her second start at Cork on Saturday.
The Aidan O'Brien-trained filly eased clear under the trainer's son Donnacha to a four-and-a-half length win over Bandiuc Eile, a New Approach half-sister to recent Listed scorer Twilight Payment.
The first three home all hold entries for the Moyglare Stud Stakes in which Magical - a Galileo sister to Rhododendron who won the same Cork maiden last year - finished a close second to Happily.
Bred by Lynch Bages, Zagitova is the second winner out of Kyllachy mare Penchant, who was picked up by John Doyle for 21,000gns at the Tattersalls December Mares Sale when Garswood was a foal.
As well as her illustrious half-brother Garswood - who is the highest rated performer on Racing Post Ratings out of a Kyllachy mare -Zagitova shares her granddam Irresistible with Veracious, third in the Coronation and Nassau Stakes this year.
Galileo's juveniles have been in flying form in recent days with Christmas winning the Listed Caravaggio Stakes at Tipperary on Friday and Nayef Road becoming the 100th winner of the Tattersalls Book 1 Bonus the same day.
