Dubawi colt out of Odeliz lights up Book 1 catalogue
Mount Coote will consign the first foal out of the dual Group 1 heroine
There are few things the biggest spending yearling buyers like more than a Dubawi colt out of a Group 1-winning mare, with those out of Attraction, Beauty Parlour, Crystal Music, Danedream, Fallen For You, Giofra, Izzi Top, Sky Lantern and Zee Zee Top all having commanded seven-figure sums in recent years.
A potential addition to that list will be present at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale this autumn, with the first foal out of Odeliz featuring in the catalogue.
Odeliz won six races for Karl Burke including the Prix Jean Romanet, in which she took the notable scalps of Avenir Certain and We Are, and the Premio Lydia Tesio. She was also only half a length behind Just The Judge when second in the EP Taylor Stakes.
At the end of her five-year-old season the daughter of Falco was offered at the Tattersalls December Breeding-Stock Sale and, although initially a 950,000gns vendor buyback, she subsequently changed hands in a private transaction for 1,000,000gns to Michael and Reiko Baum of Kentucky-based Man O'War Farm.
The Dubawi colt who is her first-born will be consigned to Book 1 by Luke Lillingston's Mount Coote Stud, and he reported the physique matches the pedigree.
“He's bigger than most Dubawis, he's not one of those small, stuffy examples by the sire – although some of those are of course extremely good – but his dam is a big lady and he's inherited the size from her,” he said.
“He's got some refinement; a fine, scopey individual and very imposing; an excellent first foal.”
Lillingston concluded: “Overall, he's a fairly magnificent steed.”
The Dubawi colt has further appeal looking down his page, as Odeliz is a three-parts sister to the lightly raced Listed winner Pamplemousse and further back it is the family of dual Grade 1 winner Amorama and her son Ampere, who scored in the Prix Hocquart and finished second in the Grand Prix de Paris.
