Classic winner's homebred relative set to debut for Godolphin at Kempton

Colour Of Light, whose dam Violante is a half-sister to Anabaa Blue, is set for her debut in the mile fillies’ novice stakes at Kempton on Tuesday.

The three-year-old daughter of Shamardal will be partnered by Cieren Fallon, though has been done no favours by a draw in stall ten in the 12-runner field.

The Godolphin homebred is the fourth foal out of her dam, who was a handicap winner at Longchamp in the cherished maroon and white silks of Sheikh Mohammed.

Impulsif, Colour Of Light’s older gelded half-brother was a winner at Chantilly in October, while as well as being a half-sister to Prix du Jockey Club hero Anabaa Blue, Violante is also a half-sister to the dam of Group 1 winner Tamayuz.

Colour Of Light is not the only interesting debutante in the field as €130,000 Arqana August Yearling Sale graduate Marsden Cross is also set to line up.

She was offered by the Fairway Consignment at Deauville in 2019 and will sport the colours of Sir Peter Vela for trainer Sir Mark Todd. The daughter of Camelot has the inside draw to overcome, with William Carson in the saddle.

Also making her debut is the Clive Cox-trained Light Of Thunder, a 110,000gns purchase from Tattersalls October Book 2 in 2019, when offered by Lynn Lodge Stud.

The daughter of Guineas hero Night Of Thunder will carry the silks of Sheikh Rashid Dalmook Al Maktoum, and is the mount of Liam Keniry.

The filly to beat is the John Gosden-trained last-time-out winner Kestenna, a daughter of Pride Of Dubai.
