YESTERDAY'S HIGHLIGHTS

Lingfield was the place for the closest finishes on a relatively drama-free afternoon, and three races over 7f up the turf straight were all tight affairs.

The nicely backed Andrew Balding newcomer Hidden Steps ultimately won division 1 of the median auction maiden going away, by half a length, but it did not look promising early on (touched 70) whereas favourite Aimez La Vie touched a low of 1.08 before the rail opened up for the winner and he picked up smartly.

Division 2 was another close one, but backers of front-running favourite Conqueress could breathe easy once they saw a still of the finish, for having been headed (high of 22) Richard Kingscote had got her back up on the line to collar Prufrock (1.16), the only ride on the card for Jamie Spencer.
