What they say: 'This has always been the plan but ideally we'd run beforehand'

Sam Brown: could be a match for the top staying novice chasers
Sam Brown: could head straight to Chepstow if Anthony Honeyball cannot find a suitable opportunity beforehandCredit: John Grossick (racingpost.com/photos)

Colin Tizzard, trainer of Native River, Elegant Escape, Mister Malarky and Copperhead
Native River has plenty of weight but the track and the trip will suit him well so he's a possible. Elegant Escape has had this as his main goal but he's missed a prep run now owing to the ground. Mister Malarky runs at Newbury on Saturday and we'll make a plan after that but he has won big races in the past. We're on a retrieval mission with Copperhead after last season but we'll probably take him to the Ladbrokes Trophy and we'll see where we are after that.

Paul Nicholls, trainer of Yala Enki, Next Destination, Truckers Lodge, Threeunderthrufive and Highland Hunter
If the top two come out, Yala Enki would end up with top weight which wouldn't be ideal so he could wait until the Portman Cup at Taunton in January which he won last year. I've no plan for Next Destination as yet but it's a race that could suit him, but Truckers Lodge is a definite runner. He'll have a warm up at the track on Saturday week and he's run well in the Welsh National twice before. Threeunderthrufive has the same profile as Truckers Lodge, who got beat in this as a novice two years ago, and he has a nice weight off 10st 9lb so he's a possible. Highland Hunter has a lovely weight and will have a run at either Chepstow or Sandown on Saturday week before having a crack at it.

Anthony Honeyball, trainer of Sam Brown
This has always been the plan for the horse but ideally we'd like to get a run into him beforehand, possibly in the Many Clouds Chase at Aintree. If he were to win that we'd look elsewhere but if he misses a prep it's not the end of the world and he could even go straight to Chepstow.
