What they say: 'He's in good shape and has plenty of pace'
Milton Harris, trainer of Knight Salute
The plan is to run him in the Adonis Hurdle at Kempton on February 26 and then, all being well, the Triumph. He's had a nice break since Doncaster, where he wasn't in love with the soft ground yet still won, and is in good shape at home. He's plenty of pace, it's just a case of if we can keep pace with the Irish horses from the last hurdle.
Gary Moore, trainer of Porticello, Teddy Blue, Moulins Clermont and Kotmask
Porticello is doing really well. My plan is to avoid the Irish horses as long as I can, so we go to the Victor Ludorum at Haydock, all being well, and if the ground is soft enough at Cheltenham, he'll go there. Teddy Blue is a nice horse and runs at Fakenham on Wednesday, so I'll know more after then. He seems to go quite well at home, the owners would be quite hopeful he runs at the festival. Kotmask was very disappointing at Fontwell on Monday and plans are on hold for him at the moment. He’d be another one for the Fred Winter, not the Triumph. Moulins Clermont won't run in the Triumph. If he goes to Cheltenham, it’ll be the Fred Winter, I’d say.
Paul Nicholls, trainer of Pleasant Man, Rubaud, Iceo and Grivetana
Pleasant Man is going to go for the Adonis and Rebaud is probably going to do the same; we'll see what happens after that. My thinking is they've done everything nicely and there's no point winning a little race with them now, then they end up not being a novice for next season. If you run in a race like that and run well or win, you can progress, as we did with Zarkandar, and he won the Triumph and at Aintree. This time of year, as big, backward four-year-olds who need time, if you don't win it's not the end of the world, whereas if you do, then you can go for a more competitive race or for a maiden hurdle. They're unknown quantities and nice horses for the future. Iceo doesn't run, he's more of a chaser and we learnt that the other day. Grivetana we bought recently and I just put her in there because she's won her only start in France. I haven't got a view on her. We'll run in the next two or three weeks and if she wins, well it's an option.
