Vallarta a surprise winner up in trip

James Sullivan’s mount had done all his winning over 6f and was having his first try over the longer trip for more than two years so it was a surprise to most punters when he stayed on well for pressure to force his head in front near the line.

The winner’s fast finish denied backers of runner-up Invoke at 1.61 and third Fullon Clarets at 1.3.
