Uttoxeter Placepot tips: Graeme Rodway's selections on a card full of runners

There are plenty of runners at Uttoxeter and soft-ground horses could be key in the Placepot.

Blairgowrie has form in soft conditions and caught the eye when a staying-on fourth on his hurdles debut at Sandown. The longer trip is sure to suit in the 2m4f novice hurdle (12.00).

Quick Draw kept on strongly after running in snatches when winning over 2m4f here last time and is another who should improve up in trip in the 2m7½f handicap hurdle (12.30).

The 2m4f mares’ handicap hurdle (1.00) is wide open. Drumlee Getaway won a point on soft to heavy at Punchestown and appeals on her debut for Olly Murphy. Doyen Queen is next best.

I’m keen to take on Call Me Lord in the 2m4f novice handicap chase (1.30). Ballybegg is one of the bets of the day and must be included, while it’s also worth putting in Fantastic Lady.

The ground might be a concern for Alborkan in the 2m handicap hurdle (2.00) but he has a big chance if he handles the conditions. Take out insurance by including French import Kalzari.

David Pipe, who trains Kalzari, also has a good chance with Red Lion Lad in the 2m6½f handicap chase (2.30). Mille Sussurri handles testing conditions and is the best alternative.
