US expert Tom Collins has three strong selections lined up for Tampa Bay Downs

My Eclair
6.00 Tampa Bay Downs
3pts win

Big Angel
8.00 Tampa Bay Downs
1pt each-way

Jackies Dream
9.00 Tampa Bay Downs
1pt win

Only two trainers who have run 20 or more horses at this Tampa Bay meet, which started last July, have a strike-rate of 28 per cent or higher. The first is Christophe Clement (11-28, 39 per cent), the second is Michael Stidham (24-84, 29 per cent).

Stidham has had a further 19 runners placed, and therefore all of his runners at the venue are worth considering. He is solely represented on the card by My Eclair, who would prove incredible value if going off at the morning line price of 2-1 in the $20,000 maiden special weight (6.00).

By multiple Grade 1-winner and top sire Speightstown out of German-bred Beverly D Stakes winner Eclair De Lune, My Eclair has a mixture of speed and stamina in his pedigree and is bred to be pretty good to say the least.

He has shown more speed than stamina so far, though, and his recent works at this track indicate he is well up to winning a competitive maiden special weight. He was the fastest of 35 workers over 4f back on March 11, while he also recorded the best time of 20 workers over the same trip on March 26.

When it comes to his races, My Eclair has put in a couple of good speed figures. His E-speed figure of 92 on debut over this trip was brilliant for the grade. My Eclair broke sharply from the inside gate and led the field a merry dance before being overhauled late on. The form of that race looks strong, too, as the winner has subsequently finished third in a Listed contest.

My Eclair was then stepped up to a mile in February and set quick fractions up top, only to be caught in the stretch when he faded into fourth behind three smart sorts.

He reverts back to his ideal trip on Wednesday, gets the assistance of leading rider Antonio Gallardo and should be able to make all from gate eight. He rates the nap of the week.

Sir Henry Cecil's Noble Mission was a fantastic but quirky sort on the track and has transferred some of his ability to his progeny, including Big Angel, who runs in the $11,000 claimer (8.00) for trainer Norberto Palavecino.

This huge filly probably isn't best suited to the turf track at Tampa, nor Gulfstream Park where she made her first three career starts, but she surged through with a big late effort to break her duck here in January and has caught the eye in behind in better races since.

Big Angel's last two efforts have been her best. She was badly bumped at the start and forced six-wide on her penultimate effort in February, but she stayed on stoutly to pick up some minor money in fourth.

Last time out she bumped into a couple of smart sorts for the grade in Sugar Fix and Vaunt. She had no chance against those rivals, who would be sent off short in this company, but again flew home at odds of 85-1 to take fourth.

She is dropped in grade and stepped up in trip, both of which should help, and hopefully rider Wilmer Garcia can get her rolling entering the home straight. Her wide draw isn't a problem given she will be dropped out.

The horse directly behind Big Angel last time was Jackies Dream, who I will be backing in the closing $11,000 claimer (9.00).

Michael Dini's filly is another fast-finisher over this trip, so a generous early pace would help her out, and her latest effort was the first time she has not filled the frame.

She had excuses, though, as she was badly bumped at the break and forced right to the back of the field from her wide draw. Jockey Tomas Meija took his time on her and aimed for an inside passage in the stretch, where she ran on takingly to pass five rivals.

Jackies Dream is drawn much better this time around in stall two and her price will likely crash if Big Angel goes close earlier on the card, so get on early.
