Tom Segal thinks Fontwell Placepot perm can be cracked

The opening maiden hurdle at Fontwell (1.50) should go to the in-form Drakes Well and he has to be banked on, especially as all the other races are handicaps and the Placepot perm could easily get out of hand.

Chasing debutant Silver Nickel could improve for fences and is worth including in the novice handicap chase (2.25). The other one to include is Old Harry Rocks, who is in good form.

The 2m½f handicap hurdle (3.00) looks tricky at first glance, but if all 16 run there will be four places to go at. Magical Thomas can be relied on to hit the frame after his improved effort over course and distance last time.

The 3m2f handicap chase (3.35) might be the hardest leg to get through, but Plantagenet and Max Dynamo stay well and will not mind how much the ground dries out.

All six runners can be given a chance in the 3m2f handicap hurdle (4.10). I would put a couple in, starting with Top Man, who might appreciate the step up in trip. Milrow ran well off this mark at Newton Abbot last month and should also be included.

The final leg is the four-runner handicap chase (4.45) and the top two recent winners stand out.

However, Choosing between Carolines Charm and Iconic Muddle is not easy, and with only one place to go for it will be safest to include both.
