Tom Collins analyses the credentials of three favourites at Tampa Bay Downs

I Am A. Luring
6.00 Tampa Bay Downs
SP forecast 8-5

Five-year-old mare who is winless in 17 outings and hardly boasts an attractive profile coming into this mile claimer. Never even made the frame (fourth twice) and her speed figures are bang average. Has some early speed, though, and should lead this field in the opening stages under Raul Mena.

Conclusion Terrible race but still can't bring myself to support this perennial loser.

Sunset Empire
6.30 Tampa Bay Downs
SP forecast 2-1

A three-time winner at this track, Sunset Empire hasn't entered the winner's circle since February 2019 but has generally competed at a much higher level than this claimer and showed signs of revival last time out when fifth. Steps up in trip to a mile from six furlongs.

Conclusion Stays this trip well and is expected to record an overdue victory under leading rider Antonio Gallardo.

Cpl. Dionicio
8.30 Tampa Bay Downs
SP forecast 5-2

Cost just $1,900 at the end of 2018 but has proved that price to be all wrong with two victories from 11 starts so far in his career. This three-year-old has had an action-packed start to 2020 with seven runs to his name over the last five months and has form on both sloppy and a fast main track.

Conclusion I will take him on from a wide draw in gate eight.
