Thursday's free racing tips: best bets for the day's action

Handicappers' nap

Candyman Can(4.37 Taunton)

Looks well handicapped on the strength of a course-and-distance fourth in a stronger race in December. Steve Mason

Newmarket nap

Faramman (2.30 Newcastle)

Better than he showed when bringing up the rear at Kempton first time and could be the 1,000th winner for Rab Havlin. David Milnes

West Country nap

Mr Magill (3.32 Taunton)

Has not been disgraced on last two visits to the course and step up in trip will help his cause. Andrew King

Eyecatcher

Truckin Away (2.15 Ludlow)

Travelled well for a long way and looks to be going the right way over fences. Has had a wind op since last seen and is open to plenty more progress over fences. Raceform

Our analysts from Raceform find eyecatchers at all meetings in the UK and Ireland, every day. Essential subscribers can read their expert view on every race

Ace Tipster

Station Master (3.25 Ludlow)

Hasn’t been seen since November but that may have been a bonus as Kim Bailey’s horses were out of form. They are performing better now and this horse has been given a distinct chance by the handicapper. He has gone well fresh in the past and can outrun his odds. Maddy Playle

Speed figures

Dandys Gold (4.15 Newcastle)

Produced a personal best on the clock when romping home here on her first start for Roger Fell three weeks ago and can follow up over this longer trip. Dave Edwards

Spotlight nap

Millicent Fawcett (4.15 Newcastle)

Could be set to make up for lost time judged on the way she quickened clear in Wolverhampton novice in December and opening mark could easily underestimate her. Andrew Sheret

Racing Post Spotlights are the industry standard for horse-by-horse pre-race previews and tips. You can access them for all races by subscribing to Members' Club Essential

Dark horse

Dandys Gold (4.15 Newcastle)

Burst back to form in stunning style at this track on stable debut, posting a big speed figure, and longer trip not beyond her. Gavin Beech

Irish angle

Arthurian Fame (2.00 Clonmel)

A three-time Flat winner, the Joseph O'Brien-trained five-year-old has performed well on his two starts over hurdles and stands out as the likely solution to the 2m3f maiden. Tony O’Hehir

Must-have stat of the day

Rebecca Curtis has won with her last four runners at Ludlow, a run that stretches back to May last year. A £1 investment on each of those runners would have returned £23.82. One of the winners was Oscar Asche and he runs in the 2m5f handicap hurdle at 2.50.
