The turf Flat season is just around the corner and the quality of the maidens at Dundalk still appears to be quite high as the winter series begins to draw to a close.
Friday's contest for three-year-olds over 1m2f was won readily by the Joseph O'Brien-trained The Grey Wizard, but his unraced stable companion Merisi was one of those to catch the eye. Held up off the pace, he wasn't quick enough to get into contention and had to switch inside the final two furlongs, but when he got a clearer run he stayed on well and was strong to the finish.
