BANKER

Lough Derg Spirit(2.45 Wetherby)

This looks a match race between El Terremoto and Lough Derg Spirit and my preference is for the latter, despite Nigel Twiston-Davies's topweight boasting a fitness edge. Still unexposed having had just eight starts, Lough Derg Spirit has proven he's a decent horse on a number of occasions, including when finishing a good second in the Elite Hurdle on his return last year, but has disappointed in the win stakes with just two successes. However, given how lightly raced he's been, it looks like Nicky Henderson has always thought of him as a long-term prospect and fences could bring out the best in him.

EYECATCHER

True Self(2.55 Bath)

Undoubtedly the best race of the season at Bath, the Listed Beckford Stakes features a number of Irish challengers and the most interesting of those is Willie Mullins's True Self, who is making just her third start on the Flat. The 130-rated hurdler built on her debut second on the level at Bellewstown by absolutely hacking up at Cork last time out. Her nine-length romp was mightily impressive and jockey Colin Keane mentioned that she could be a black-type performer in the post-race interview. If she handles this track, I'm sure she will go close.
