GOOD THING

Final Venture(3.00 Doncaster)

Paul Midgley's sprinters are always worth following and Final Venture, who finished fourth in this race last year behind the reopposing Encore D'Or when sent off the 6-4 favourite, could be a value bet to go three places better under Oisin Murphy. The consistent six-year-old ran a season-best effort when second at York on his penultimate start, just a neck behind El Astronaute, who he faces once more on 2lb better terms. He had no chance last time out in the Beverley Bullet when blowing the start, but he travelled well and can gain compensation here.

EYECATCHER

Coverham (6.45 Kempton)

Jason Watson on Crystal Casque will surely take up most of the market and I'm more than keen to take him on with Coverham, who boasts a good record at this track. With form figures of 326411 here, Coverham, who is back down to a mark just 1lb higher than when scoring at Newmarket in May, should get a nice position early on from stall four and can capitalise up the straight under a power-packed drive from Luke Morris. He's run creditably off a higher mark the last twice over a mile and the drop back to 7f will help.
