Gamesome and Desert Ace are likely to head the market for this 5f sprint, but the former's poor strike-rate of 1-35 and the latter's handicap mark have led me to believe something more unexposed can take the prize. Michael Wigham's Flying Foxy fits the bill having had just four starts and now returns to the scene of her sole victory over this course and distance. The lightly-raced daughter of Foxwedge scored on her reappearance as a three-year-old last year – suggesting the 270-day break she's returning from here won't be a problem – and really stuck her head out to win that day. The form has been boosted by the third and fourth, who've both scored three times since. If she builds on those efforts now she's been given time to develop, she could prove a big threat to her more experienced rivals.

Zain City (5.50 Chepstow)

I always look forward to the Wood Ditton at Newmarket but the competitive contest, which often features runners from most of the big yards, never seems to throw up that many future winners. However, one that stood out to potentially buck that trend was the Mick Channon-trained Zain City, who stuck on well under hands and heels to snatch seventh from an unpromising position coming down the hill. The son of Lope De Vega looked clueless in the early stages and was last of 19 with three furlongs to go but weaved through beaten horses close home and was finishing as fast as any come the line. The breeze-up purchase is sure to improve for that and he could prove a class above.
