BANKER

Formula One(5.30 Newcastle)

Son of Frankel who marked himself as a three-year-old to follow when finishing runner-up here over 1m2f on debut with a strong-staying effort. Built on that when going one better on turf debut at Ffos Las despite racing keenly, but the race hasn't really worked out. He pulled hard again when last seen finishing fifth back over the course and distance he won over on debut, which didn't help, and it's interesting to see him stepped up in trip. I'm convinced he's well treated off a mark of 82 on handicap debut and he's proven at the track.

GOOD THING

Sumner Beach (8.00 Newcastle)

Won on debut at Southwell in April 2016 for Brian Ellison but is yet to add to that victory in 14 subsequent starts, notching just two placed efforts. However, he's been dropping down the handicap like a stone having been campaigned at trips from 5f to 1m2f, and he looked a future winner when finishing sixth at Redcar at the end of last month off a mark of 59. Dropped a further 3lb for that, he was undone by a lack of pace when third here over 7f at the start of the month but can make amends over this longer trip.
