The Punt Daily: Tom Collins with two to follow on Friday
BANKER
Fanfaronade (5.15 Newcastle)
John Gosden has his winter team in flying form and boasts a strike-rate of 7-20 (35 per cent) in January, with a further eight horses having finished in the frame. He has two runners at Newcastle tonight but Fanfaronade stands out the most on her first start in handicap company following three mid-division efforts in novice events. This Exchange Rate filly will only get better with time and has been given a nice break since her last start, when plugging on well over this trip. She carries topweight tonight but her opposition doesn't look up to much.
IRISH ANGLE
Gougane Barra (7.30 Dundalk)
Another very raw individual, Gougane Barra finally repaid punters faith when scoring at the ninth time of asking when last seen over this course and distance in the middle of January, and looks reasonably treated to follow up for trainer Mick Halford. He's gone up 9lb for that impressive success, where he swooped from near last to first, but the form has been boosted by the third since and I'd be surprised if Gougane Barra didn't prove much better than this 45-65 grade.
