The Punt Daily: Tom Collins with three to follow on Wednesday
BANKER
Don't get me wrong, this is a hot 1m½f novice event for this time of season, but Martyn Meade's King Ademar is highly regarded at home, in the hands of top connections, has the form to go close and should relish the step up in trip. Unlucky not to win on his debut at Chelmsford in October when not getting a clear run, King Ademar stepped up on that effort to take the runner-up spot behind a promising Kingman colt at Newmarket and instantly went into my tracker as a three-year-old to follow. The son of Scat Daddy is open to any amount of progression and the booking of Oisin Murphy boosts his claim.
GOOD THING
May Sonic(5.45 Kempton)
This already-gelded son of Mayson came in for copious amounts of support on debut at Kempton last month but he missed the kick and nothing went right. However, what he did show was a nice turn of foot and attitude to pass several beaten horses in the straight and finish seventh. Much better will be expected here and he is sure to come in for support again. His draw in stall four is perfect.
EYECATCHER
Qaysar (3.35 Nottingham)
Richard Hannon's team isn't in sparkling form just yet but he had a winner at Windsor on Monday and this Al Shaqab-owned four-year-old, who has won three of his six starts, can add to the trainer's tally. Qaysar is a horse best caught fresh, as he showed when winning on his reappearance at Kempton last season having been well backed. He followed that up with a strong Newbury victory under Frankie Dettori, looking a horse to take note, before disappointing on his final two runs. They were in tough big-field handicaps, though, and Hannon did say he may not be mentally ready to tackle those kind of races. He will have progressed physically and mentally over the winter and we could see a different horse this year.
