EACH-WAY PLAY

(Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir, 5.30 Cheltenham)

I'm a big fan of Katie Walsh and it's very interesting that she's been booked by Nicky Henderson to ride the lazy but talented Sugar Baron in this stamina test. I backed him when I was at the course in November for a 3m1f handicap chase and, having looked like he was going to pull up at multiple stages, he stuck on and flew up the run-in to grab second. This extra furlong will suit him, as will the big field and strong pace, and I think he's a really good bet to grab a place. Squouateur is the dark horse with Jamie Codd booked but, like Mall Dini, he doesn't offer much value in the market.

EYECATCHER

Bacardys(Sun Bets Stayers' Hurdle, 3.30 Cheltenham)

This is an ultra competitive running of the Grade 1 Stayers' Hurdle and it would be no surprise to see four across the track as they jump the last, hopefully with Bacardys coming out on top. The dual Grade 1-winner over hurdles has the class to take this prize and you can ignore his last two runs over fences, a discipline he hasn't taken to. He has good course form – when third in the Champion Bumper in 2016 – and you can ignore his run when pulled up in the Ballymore last year as he was badly hampered and lost all chance. It's surprising to see him as big as 10-1.

GOOD THING

Invitation Only(JLT Novices' Chase, 1.30 Cheltenham)

Willie Mullins has won the opening race on Thursday four times in the last six years, the last twice with Andrea and Graham Wylie-owned runners and they team up this year with Invitation Only. The seven-year-old is lightly raced for his age with just nine career starts to his name and after comfortable victories at Navan and Punchestown, he went down fighting to Monalee in the Grade 1 Flogas Novice Chase – form of which is very strong. The drop back to 2m4f will suit him.
