The Punt Daily: Tom Collins with three to follow on Thursday
BANKER
Mach One (6.25 Chelmsford)
I've tipped Archie Watson's three-year-old the last two times he's run and he's been unlucky to bump into one or two both times, however he will hopefully repay the faith today in this mile 0-60 handicap. The conditions of this race are perfect and given he's likely to race prominently, Chelmsford is his ideal track. He led everywhere but the line when last seen and with most of his rivals looking like dead wood, he should be able to last out to record his first win on his eighth start.
EYECATCHER
Choral Clan (3.30 Lingfield)
This really is a low-grade affair and the unexposed pair of Circulation and former hurdler Bleu Et Noir will be strong in the market as punters seek to find an angle. However, it looks wise to stick with a consistent type who looks sure to run his race and Choral Clan fits the bill. Brendan Powell's six-year-old is an all-weather specialist who very rarely runs a bad race, which is unfortunately his undoing as the handicapper never relents enough to see him well in. However, he ran extremely well behind two better horses in this grade at Kempton recently and should go close under Jack Mitchell.
IRISH ANGLE
Hollow Tree (2.30 Clonmel)
This nine-year-old has been around the block and has now ended up with Gordon Elliott, after Middleham Park racing bought him from the Horses In Training Sale in May, and he ran well on debut for his new connections when second in a competitive handicap last month. He bumped into the in-form Granny Biddy on that occasion but finished comfortably clear of his other rivals and his mark of 110 is lenient given his back form.
