BANKER

Banff (5.35 Salisbury)

One of two rapidly improving four-year-olds in this 0-60 handicap, the Olly Murphy-trained Banff won with a lot more in hand than the one-and-a-quarter-length winning distance suggested over an extended two miles at Newcastle last time out. Jamie Spencer, who maintains the ride, was just nudging him out towards the end and the handicapper has only raised him 6lb.

STAT ATTACK

Holmeswood(5.15 Ripon)

Michael Dods has been a punter's pal this calendar year (£1 level stake on all of his runners would have provided a profit of £57.84) and is about to equal his best ever tally of 50 winners. He sends one runner to Ripon in the shape of Holmeswood, an improving three-year-old who rewarded favourite backers when scoring easily last time out. He should win again.

EYECATCHER

Brutal (2.05 Cork)

Qatar Racing's maroon and gold silks are often seen on the level but the powerful Sheikh Fahad Al Thani-led team have their first runner over hurdles in the shape of Brutal. Clearly the best of these on the Flat, Brutal has joined Gordon Elliott from Ger Lyons and is partnered by Davy Russell on his jumps debut.
