The Punt Daily: Tom Collins with three to follow on Grand National day

BIG-RACE BANKER

Rathvinden (5.15 Aintree, Grand National)

I placed two antepost bets for the National in January and my sole survivor is Rathvinden, who doesn't represent as much value now at 10-1 but should go very close if handling the fences. A strong stayer, as proven when winning the four-miler at Cheltenham last year, Rathvinden is a prolific scorer with nine victories from just 19 races and undoubtedly has the ability to win a race like the National. His jumping is a slight concern, but he ticks a lot of boxes and Mullins struck over this course with Cadmium yesterday. If he is there at the last I wouldn't swap my bet.

GOOD THING

(3.50 Leopardstown)

Aidan O'Brien might have the top three in the betting for the Ballysax Stakes on the first show, but the master trainer's horses are never primed first up this time of year and I'm happy to take them on with Dermot Weld's promising Tankerville. Weld has had this race in mind since the son of Kitten's Joy since he won on debut at Gowran in October and he looked a star in the making the way he trounced his opposition that day. He will definitely improve for this step up to 1m2f and will hopefully land the spoils for Weld, who has won two of the last five editions of this race.

EYECATCHER

Scheu Time(6.20 Aintree)

I backed this horse in this race last year off a 2lb higher mark and thought I was set to cash in, but he fell at the last with the race at his mercy. He is back with a huge chance of making amends off this mark and has had this race as his target all season. Jonjo O'Neill jnr is a fantastic jockey booking and the majority of his rivals don't have much in hand of the handicapper. The ground is fine and Scheu Time, who goes best fresh, has had a nice break since his last start.
