The Punt Daily: Tom Collins' free horse racing tips on Thursday afternoon

BANKER

(12.50 Southwell)

Unexposed five-year-old who never featured in three novice starts but has caught the eye in two runs in handicap company since. Blew the start on his debut in this sphere off a mark of 53 at Wolverhampton in November, was outpaced for much of the early part of the race but fairly flew home for third. Filled the same position off the same mark last time when tipped in this column but ran a much more economical race, albeit he was restless in the stalls. The fact he showed early pace on that occasion suggests he should get himself into a crucially good position on his Fibresand debut and I'm convinced he's better than his rating. He opened up at 4-1 yesterday but I'd be surprised if his SP wasn't closer to 2-1.

EYECATCHER

Haldon Hill (3.25 Wincanton)

Trainer Victor Dartnell struck with Admiral's Secret at Leicester yesterday and he can make it two-from-two with Haldon Hill, providing the seven-year-old puts in a better jumping display than his last two outings. The JP McManus-owned son of Mahler ran in some talent-filled bumpers and novice hurdles last season and mixed it with the best of them, including when finishing fifth behind the 141-rated Umbrigado and third to the 138-rated Dolphin Square. Had wind surgery at the end of that campaign and hasn't jumped well enough to win over fences so far, but has faced impossible tasks the last twice and now enters handicap company. A mark of 116 could be lenient.
