The Punt Daily: Tom Collins' free horse racing tips on Thursday afternoon
BANKER
Floressa(2.35 Newbury)
I'm convinced Floressa will progress into a Graded hurdler for trainer Nicky Henderson and although this is her hardest task to date with the likes of Silver Forever and Heaven Help Us in opposition, I'm hopeful she can come through with flying colours. She has only had three starts in her career so is still learning her trade, but it was hard not to be impressed with her bumper form last campaign and her ready 19-length score on reappearance proved no more than a piece of work. She jumped superbly that day and quickened away with minimal fuss. With conditions set to suit, a replica performance could be in the offing.
EYECATCHER
Alrightjack (3.10 Newbury)
Along with Floressa, the Venetia Williams-trained Geordie B featured in my five jumps horses to follow this season, but the ground doesn't look ideal for him to get off to a winning start this campaign and although I'd suggest putting Geordie B in the tracker, it might pay to oppose him on this occasion. The value bet is Jamie Snowden's Alrightjack, who performed extremely well to finish a never-nearer fourth on his return in the Grade 3 Silver Trophy at Chepstow last month. He's been bumped up 2lb for that run but he could be chucked in off his mark of 129 over staying trips and his bumper and novice hurdle form would give him a proper squeak in this kind of contest.
