Bob Buckler's gelding looked extremely useful when winning his first two bumper starts on testing ground but hasn't progressed since, finishing down the field in a Listed contest at Cheltenham before four winless hurdles outings. He hasn't been beaten far, though, and caught the eye with a fine runner-up finish behind Truckers Lodge at Exeter on his penultimate outing in March. He shaped well when fourth on his reappearance earlier this month (third hacked up yesterday) and this rates his easiest task as he leaves novice company.

Sky Pirate (2.40 Ascot)

Consistent performer who has been luckless since being sent chasing, finishing second at Uttoxeter and Carlisle as well as falling when highly likely to win at Cheltenham and Wetherby last time out. He cruised into the latter contest and looked ready to clear away from eventual winner Crievehill when clattering the fourth-last and coming to grief. Sky Pirate remains on the same mark of 132 and has to go close if his jumping holds up.
