The Punt Daily: Tom Collins' free horse racing tips on day one of Royal Ascot

BANKER

(4.10 Royal Ascot)

Extremely well-bred four-year-old filly who won with plenty in hand on her first two outings last year, the second of which came in a Newbury novice event where she won by a whopping seven lengths. She was upped in class to tackle the Group 1 Coronation Stakes at this meeting last year and performed very well to take third, before she was given a poor ride when filling the same berth at Glorious Goodwood. Put a line through her Atalanta Stakes performance and she would be favourite for this.

EYECATCHER

Mutamaasik (1.15 Royal Ascot)

Daarik is the obvious one in here for John Gosden and Frankie Dettori but I'm not convinced he will be as good on turf as he is on the all-weather and I would rather back ownermate Mutamaasik. Roger Varian's four-year-old looks well treated off a mark of 100 on the back of a ready four-timer last year. His Chelmsford novice win has worked out well and he showed clear improvement when tried on grass on his final two outings. His draw looks fine and hopefully he can get the Royal meeting off to a good start.

DARK HORSE

Summer Moon (4.40 Royal Ascot)

Mark Johnston's stayers are in brilliant condition at the moment and this four-year-old looks the type to hit the heights over stamina-sapping trips this year. He went up 23lb in the weights last year thanks to a brilliant sequence of performances, the best of which came when he finished just half a length behind Stratum in the Cesarewitch off a mark of 97. Heavy ground didn't suit on his final outing, so put a line through that, and he will have been primed for this target.

EACH-WAY PLAY

Tis Marvellous (3.35 Royal Ascot)

Battaash should finally land the King's Stand Stakes after running into Blue Point for the last two years, but there's no juice in his price at all and it's wise to find an each-way alternative. The one that stands out to me, whether it be for three or four places, is Clive Cox's Tis Marvellous. He clearly runs his best races at Ascot (form figures of 4641214) and will appreciate a likely fast gallop. He isn't far behind the likes of Glass Slippers on ratings and can hit the frame at around 28-1.
