Colin Tizzard's future champion can take a cracking edition of the Grade 1 King George VI Chase and prove the speed doubters wrong under Robbie Power. Likely market leader Cyrname will test Lostintranslation, but he has the high cruising speed (proved when beating Defi Du Seuil last year) that is needed to stay with Paul Nicholls' exuberant front-runner and his fluency over fences will surely stand him in good stead. The seven-year-old is right out of the top drawer, has improved year-on-year and his recent defeat of Haydock specialist Bristol De Mai in the Betfair Chase marks him as the leading 3m chaser in the country.

GOOD THING

Flaminger(1.50 Fontwell)

Gary Moore won this 2m2f handicap chase last year with a short-priced favourite and he's highly likely to do the same 12 months on as Flaminger will prove virtually unbeatable if posting a similar effort as when he won at Plumpton earlier this month. The scopey grey never looked in danger that day, jumping with precision out in front and providing punters with a fantastic spectacle on a dull afternoon. He eventually crossed the line 18 lengths in front of his nearest pursuer, but it could have easily been double that distance and he is chucked in under a penalty here.

EYECATCHER

Lake View Lad (2.10 Wetherby)

Nick Alexander's stayer often comes to life at this time of year and was impressive when taking this race in 2018, beating the subsequent Scottish Grand National winner (Takingrisks, third) and Eider winner (Crosspark, fifth) with ease. Lake View Lad went on to finish third at the Cheltenham Festival before finding the ground a tad lively in the Grand National, when pulling up. He returned with a quiet effort at Newcastle in November but will have been primed for a crack at this prestigious race and should appreciate the likely fast pace.

DARK HORSE

Hold The Note (1.20 Kempton)

Unexposed five-year-old who was fast-tracked through his bumper and hurdling careers to get to fences thanks to his fantastic technique and ability to clear obstacles at speed. He was useful in both other spheres, hinting that he would be a horse to follow when getting his ideal conditions, and certainly caught the eye on his chase debut when third behind the talented Western Ryder at Ludlow last month. He ran well to a point but looked as if he needed the race and will surely go close off a mark of 133 on handicap debut with that run under his belt.
