Few horses have a better pedigree than Magical Land, a son of Frankel out of Shamardal mare Mistrusting, who won four races that included a Listed success at this track. Being a half-brother of Althiqa, another Listed scorer who is at her best over a mile, you would expect Magical Land to step up in trip before long, but he showed speed in both his starts last year and this looks the perfect race to kickstart his three-year-old season. He's hard to oppose on the formbook.

Good to firm ground can catch Han Solo Berger out, so the going description for day one of the Craven meeting looks ideal for the Chris Wall-trained handicapper, who comes here fit after two runs on the all-weather. Han Solo Berger wasn't beaten far in either of those outings despite tardy starts and is of serious interest now that he reverts to the turf. A low draw is preferable over this course and distance and although he doesn't have much in hand off his mark (6lb higher than last turf win), he may be too sharp for his rivals.
