The Punt Daily: Tom Collins' free horse racing tips at Newcastle and Deauville

BANKER

Ice Pyramid (5.05 Newcastle)

Unexposed five-year-old who looked to be on a sharp upward curve when we last saw him on the track in February. Formerly owned by Godolphin before moving to Phil Kirby, Ice Pyramid has a clear love for the all-weather track at Newcastle with a brace of five-length victories here on his most recent outings and should be able to continue his winning streak despite the fact he faces some good opponents. His price of 4-1 looks fair.

GOOD THING

Ecrivain(2.50 Deauville)

Victor Ludorum has been all the rage for the French 2,000 Guineas for some time but he disappointed on his seasonal reappearance when just third behind the reopposing The Summit and Ecrivain. The Summit got the run of the race that day and it is likely that the two who finished directly behind him will be able to reverse the form. Preference is for the Carlos Laffon-Parias-trained Ecrivain, who didn't get the best of runs but stayed on stoutly at the finish and should be 100 per cent fit entering the Classic. He has course form here thanks to his maiden victory last year.

DARK HORSE

Tickle Me Green(3.25 Deauville)

Andre Fabre seems to hold the key to the French 1,000 Guineas with the improving Tropbeau likely to go off a short-priced favourite, but I will take a chance with stablemate Tickle Me Green. This ex-German-trained filly made a promising debut for Fabre when third behind her aforementioned stablemate in the Prix de la Grotte on May 11 and wasn't beaten far despite being short for room in the closing stages. She was well punted before the off, which suggests to me that she had been training well, and Pierre-Charles Boudot is a very good booking in the saddle.
