Debut winner Approachability and Yarmouth runner-up Grenoble set the standard in this small-field novice, but I want to take a chance on the well-regarded Franklin William for trainer Andrew Balding, who issued rave reviews about this son of Frankel before his debut at Newbury. He was sent off 5-2 favourite in a decent-looking heat but raced keenly in mid-division and couldn't pick up when asked, eventually given a pretty tender ride as he learned his job. Better is expected second-time up.
