The Punt Daily: Robbie Wilders' horse racing tip at Pontefract on Tuesday
GOOD THING
Waldkonig (2.00 Pontefract)
Half-brother to Waldgeist who remains an outstanding prospect and John and Thady Gosden's decision to pitch him into a handicap for the first time at Pontefract must be respected. The son of Kingman was among the leading fancies for the Derby following a superb maiden victory at two, before he was a beaten odds-on favourite in the Newmarket Stakes by brilliant stablemate Mishriff. Then finished second to another potential star in Highest Ground, a subsequent narrow loser of the Dante who is now rated 111. Waldkonig is surely better than a mark of 101 and after three runs he can still improve plenty as a four-year-old, while his Arc-winning half-sibling only reached his peak as an older horse.
