The Punt Acca: Robbie Wilders' two horse racing tips at York on Saturday
Inverness(2.25 York)
The Melrose is always a tough three-year-old handicap to solve but I'm drawn to Inverness, who has run with great credit when third on each of his last two starts at Ascot and Goodwood behind subsequent Great Voltigeur second Secret State, shaping slightly better than the result on both occasions. I'm sure he is on a good mark and he gives the impression 1m6f is well worth another crack, while there is enough stamina in his pedigree to reinforce that notion.
Rohaan(3.00 York)
I’ve been keen to see Rohaan step up to seven furlongs for a long time and he gets that opportunity in the City of York Stakes. Rohaan’s three best performances have come over six furlongs at Ascot, one of the stiffest tracks around, and over six and a half at Deauville in the Group 1 Prix Maurice de Gheest. This test will suit this fast finisher and he looks overpriced compared with the established seven-furlong specialists.
