The Punt Acca: James Stevens' three horse racing tips at Ffos Las on Sunday

Boothill (2.35 Ffos Las)

Last season's chasing debut did not go to plan for Boothill but he ended up running to a decent level over hurdles, particularly his good second in a Uttoxeter handicap in March. He did not appear to stay the 2m7f trip at Galway on soft ground when pulled up in July, but he is down in trip here which can place more emphasis on his speed. His Exeter chasing effort was disappointing but he is worth one more chance given he is bred to make a chaser and is still only seven so has potential in this sphere.

Severance (3.10 Ffos Las)

Ben Pauling's runner ran to a high level without winning in two-mile handicaps last season. His second at Aintree's Grand National meeting to the improver Hacker Des Places reads particularly well and he shaped well in defeat again when filling the runner-up spot in the Swinton Hurdle at Haydock in May. Severance will need to improve again but he has won fresh in the past and the stable are in good form.

Farceur De Maulne (3.45 Ffos Las)

The combination of a step up in trip and first-time cheekpieces benefitted this lightly raced type when he won impressively at Worcester in May. He is up 10lb in the weights for that comfortable win but could well have more to offer from his low rating and Brendan Powell is a notable jockey booking.
