'The plan from the end of last season was to go straight to Chepstow'
Neil Mulholland, trainer of Carole's Destrier and Kansas City Chief
We were very happy with how Kansas City Chief ran over hurdles and we'll see how Carole's Destrier runs on Saturday. He pulled muscles in last year's race but he seems good now and I'm happy with where he is. Tony Bloom bought Kansas City Chief not so long ago and he will be going for these type of races. He's a nice horse for it and we'll see how we get on.
Fergal O'Brien, trainer of Chase The Spud, Alvarado, Viva Steve and Perfect Candidate
It's the obvious place for Chase The Spud to go to. I can't complain because he won a valuable handicap but the handicapper's put him up 9lb, which I think was a bit harsh and whether that'll hamper him, I don't know. Hopefully not as he's a big, strong horse and if it comes up soft or heavy, I think he's run well. It'd want to be good ground for Alvarado to go there and that very seldom happens. Viva Steve will go to the Becher Chase and depending on what sort of race he has there, we may or may not have a look at Chepstow. The owners of Perfect Candidate would be keen to go for a Welsh National but my own feeling is he might be better off going back to Sandown for the final of the veterans chase series.
David Dennis, trainer of Final Nudge
It's very much the plan. He had a hard enough race for his comeback run but ran on well from the last, which was encouraging. He saw out the 3m1f in the Badger Ales Chase well and I'd be disappointed if he can't get the trip round Chepstow.
Sue Smith, trainer of Vintage Clouds and Cloudy Too
Vintage Clouds ran a cracking race at Haydock and bumped into one. He's come out of the race fine and hopefully we'll have him in tip-top order to go to Chepstow. I wouldn't be 100 per cent sure about Cloudy Too. Everything has to run in his favour and he's never gone over that trip before, so we'll have to wait to know the ground and all the circumstances.
Michael Scudamore, trainer of Mysteree, Streets Of Promise, Two Smokin Barrels and Kingswell Theatre
Mysteree beat Chase The Spud at Haydock and he beat us at Uttoxeter, so that form doesn't look too bad now. He won the Eider so you know stamina and heavy ground aren't an issue, so the plan is to go straight there provided we can get in. He had a hard season last season and he's a horse that's run well fresh, so the plan from the end of last season was to go straight to Chepstow. Streets Of Promise has had a little break too and will probably go for the trial there next weekend. Depending on how that goes we'll see but if she was to get in, we'd probably take our chance. Two Smokin Barrels probably wouldn't get in off her mark and Kingswell Theatre will probably go back to Cheltenham for the Cross Country again.
Evan Williams, trainer of Pobbles Bay, Buywise, Firebird Flyer, Nansaroy and On The Road
Pobbles Bay will run, he's come out of Aintree really well. Buywise might just go there. He's a bit hit and miss these days but the owner is keen to go there. Firebird Flyer was very disappointing last year but was second in the race the year before. He had a good long holiday and ran well enough over hurdles the other day and could end up there. Nansaroy won't run but On The Road definitely could run. He's out of a sister of Earth Summit and has never run over a trip but his sire is a hardy sire. He's a tough, hardy horse and he loves the mud.
