Newcastle Placepot picks: Paul Kealy chases the £100,000 guarantee

The Tote's £100,000 placepot guarantee goes to Newcastle, where it is going to be hard to get a dividend-boosting result in the first (3.45).

The George Boughey-trained won so easily at Southwell last time on his first run after being gelded that his new mark when reassessed will be nearer 80 than the 72 he runs off under a penalty and it will be a surprise if he doesn't follow up, let alone make the frame.

There are only a couple you can seriously entertain in the second (4.15) as well, and the Boughey-trained , just touched off on his debut last month, gets the nod ahead of Self Aclaim as we only need one of them.

The next (4.45) is tougher but not exactly competitive. Gay Kelleway is in cracking form this month, but we may well have the answer with , who went as close as he ever has when third on Wednesday. is added in case he finds the race coming too soon.

Race-fit pair and would be my two in the classy conditions race (5.15), while the next (5.45) is tricky.

I wouldn't go mad with a perm, though, as I doubt this will be a big payer, so I'm siding with only , who ran well last time, and , who has become very nicely treated.

There are 12 runners in the closing 6f sprint, but it's hard to ignore the claims of , who is on a course-and-distance four-timer, won with enough in hand last time, and has been rated much higher on turf.
