The Meydan Punt: Nick Driver with three to follow on Thursday

BANKER

Drafted (5.25 Meydan)

Doug Watson and Pat Dobbs are seeking their fourth straight victory in this race with last year's winner Drafted. He is a quirky type, usually falling out of the stalls and flying home – which is certainly against the grain for the way the track rides – but he still manages to get the job done in style on most occasions. The pace bias has certainly weakened this year which gives Drafted even more of a chance to follow up. He ran a good race on seasonal debut behind
Gladiator King and Ibn Malik and should come on for that considering it was his first run since March. He can improve past those two rivals, hopefully nicking the race in the final few yards.

GOOD THING

First Nation (6.00 Meydan)

Three of the front four from the Zabeel Turf Handicap reoppose and despite most thinking Simsir was the eyecatcher from that run, it might well be worth watching First Nation's run too. He fell out of the stalls, met trouble in running before powering home to finish fourth. He gets a weight pull from Certain Lad and Simsir from that previous outing and, if he comes on from the run, could certainly take the spoils.

EYECATCHER

Dubai Legacy (4.15 Meydan)

Saeed bin Suroor's horses have been in fine form so Dubai Legacy is certainly one to watch now switched to dirt. He finished fifth on the opening day of the carnival, staying on strongly which suggests the switch to a mile will suit. If he comes on for the run – like he is expected to do so – the only question mark will be the switch to dirt. But his breeding suggests he will more than be able to cope with it.
