The Meydan Punt: in-form Nick Driver bids to follow up 11-8 and 15-2 winners

BANKER

Dubai Love (3.40 Meydan)

The UAE Oaks is one of the highlights of this week and it looks like an open goal for Saeed bin Suroor to land his eleventh UAE Oaks. Dubai Love was exceptional in the UAE 1000 Guineas and it has been reported that she'll relish going even further, the way she has run in her last two has cemented that opinion, along with some strong staying pedigree on her dam's side. She's rated vastly better than most of the field with the only two likely dangers being Down On Da Bayou who she conquered last time out and the unknown Japanese raider Serein. Serein will have to be taken seriously as she's beaten the colts in Japan on two occasions but I think she'll need a little more time to acclimatise whereas Dubai Love is proven at this level.

GOOD THING

Mythical Magic (4.15 Meydan)

While Godolphin send three of their top horses to the Zabeel Mile, William Buick has opted for last years winner of this race, Mythical Magic. The selection has taken the same route as last year and this is likely to have been his aim once again. Last year he warmed up nicely behind D'Bai over seven furlongs in the Al Fahidi Fort and did the same this year behind a very good Glorious Journey who heads to Saudi. He followed up that loss to D'Bai by romping away with this race and I expect him to have been prepared to do the same again. He's another who is proven at this level and everything today suits, whereas Zakouski will need to step up again and so will Salute The Soldier, while the trip is likely to be on the short side for Dream Castle.

Firmament (3.05 Meydan)

The Jaguar XE handicap has been split into two divisions and connections of Firmament will be happy with how they have fared from that. He ran with great credit in his last two outings over course and distance, while arguably being given too much to do late in the day on both occasions. This time around he looks to have a great chance, he's drawn in four which couldn't be any better so if he can break well and hold a good position then against this competition he could finish with a flourish and take the race. His last race was much tougher than this and with the top two in the weights likely to have that against them, the only horse in the race I can see stopping the selection is Good Fortune however Firmament may just nick it.
