Altior has missed various engagements since losing his unbeaten record over fences to Cyrname. He never seemed to be going at Ascot before his tendency to jump left and/or the trip became a factor. He has won the last two renewals of this race and it is the perfect place to get him back on track.

After some excellent performances in handicaps, Bun Doran moved up a level when winning the Grade 2 Desert Orchid Chase at Kempton, where he was only fourth choice in the betting. He beat last year's Racing Post Arkle winner Duc Des Genievres and is arguably better racing left-handed.
