Taunton Placepot tips: Graeme Rodway with his selections for a competitive card

The prospect of better ground gives Taunton preference over Haydock for the Placepot.

The opening 2m3f conditional jockeys’ handicap hurdle (12.15) looks difficult. Brianna Rose goes in after her victory at Southwell this month and it’s also worth including Mi Laddo.

The 2m½f juvenile hurdle (12.45) looks like a good opportunity for a banker because Graystone was impressive when winning at Warwick this month and may be a class apart.

The 2m3f novice hurdle (1.15) should go to Brave Kingdom. He was last seen competing in Grade 2 company and takes a big drop in class. It will be a surprise if he isn’t placed.

There could be an upset in the 2m7f novice handicap chase (1.50). Velasco is worth another chance after disappointing at Hereford last time and Cape Robin looks a decent alternative.

The 2m½f mares’ novice hurdle (2.25) is a cracking race and the overnight betting probably has it right, so stick with market principals, Rainyday Woman and Ahorsewithnoname.

Lets Go Dutchess was a good second at Wincanton last time and makes some appeal in the 3m2½f handicap chase (3.00), but it’s a wide-open race, so put Troed Y Melin in as well.
