Take a chance on Devilwala proving Dewhurst run was no fluke

This lightly raced three-year-old won first time out last season on his debut at Haydock in August and has the form to be seriously competitive on his reappearance in this Group 3.

Devilwala is the best horse in the race judged on Racing Post Ratings. The problem is that rating was achieved when he was a 100-1 outsider for the Dewhurst at this course in October and he may have been flattered as he raced prominently up the often favoured stands’ side rail.

However, that isn’t the only good effort on his CV as he also finished second in the Gimcrack at York in August, achieving an RPR of 107 that gives him place claims.

He needs to bounce back from a disappointing run at the Breeders’ Cup at Keeneland last time but that is easily ignored. It was a long journey at the end of the season and maybe he wasn’t quite at his best. There is every chance he can return to form back at this course.
