Sweetspots: Kickboxer looks ready to strike a blow for Appleby

Credit: Edward Whitaker

Mick Appleby does well with his new recruits and strikes at 23 per cent (28-122) at the first time of asking. Godolphin cast-off Kickboxer is back down to a mark he can win off and looks poised to run a big race in the 3.20 Thirsk.

There could be more to come from Run To The Hills this year now he’s been gelded. George Peckham’s strike-rate of nine per cent rises to 21 per cent off the back of that operation and his runner has plenty in his favour in the 2.45 Thirsk.

Warren Greatrex is 4-6 with his debutants in bumpers at Bangor and Rose Of Cimarron (5.20) can go well, with those to have run setting just a fair standard.

David Simcock has a handy 25 per cent strike-rate with his runners at Doncaster (18-72) and shows a healthy profit of £19.73 with all his handicap debutants. Ahlan Bil Zain (7.20) couldn’t land a blow in the Epsom Derby trial last time but will find this much more suitable.
