Sweetspots: It would be foolish to look Gift horse in the mouth

When Ciaran Gethings rides for Stuart Edmunds at Fakenham it’s worth taking note as they have a 60 per cent strike-rate when teaming up at the venue. They do so with Ulysses (12.45), who showed signs of ability on the Flat and is having his first start for the trainer.

Archie Watson is a trainer to note when he sends his horses to Southwell, having a 33 per cent strike-rate at the venue. He has two runners there the pick of whom is Isstoora (2.55), a course-and-distance winner who will appreciate the step back in trip.

Tom Humphries gets on very well with the Nigel Twiston-Davies-trained Arthur’s Gift, having three wins from three rides on the gelding. They team up at Cheltenham (2.35) and bid for back-to-back victories over course and distance.
