Sweetspots: Five-time course winner can save punters’ bacon
Saved My Bacon has won five times at Chelmsford with three of those wins coming over today’s distance of five furlongs. Winning last time out at the track, he still looks on a winnable mark with claimer Lewis Edmunds on board in the 9.00.
Michael Dods has a 38 per cent strike-rate with two-year-old debutants at Beverley (3-8). Eller Brook, whose sire and dam both won first time out, goes in the 6.40.

Luca Cumani has a 25 per cent strike-rate with first-time handicappers, returning £17.37 to £1 level stakes. Pleasant Surprise makes her first handicap appearance in the 4.10 at Doncaster. Not disgraced in Listed company last time out, this slight step up in trip will help her.
