Sweetspots: Approval ratings set to rise for Appleby and De Sousa

Before Wednesday night’s meeting at Yarmouth, Michael Appleby and Silvestre de Sousa had individual strike-rates of ten and 24 per cent at the Norfolk track in the last five years. That rises to 43 per cent when they combine. They do so with By Royal Approval in the 2.10.

Lucy Wadham is 4-11 – a 36 per cent strike-rate – with her horses who were declared non-runners but turn out again within a week. Pernickety, who was a non-runner at Epsom last Thursday due to unsuitable ground, goes in the 4.30 at Brighton.
