Sweetspots: Alcala can win again down in grade at Newton Abbot
Credit: Edward Whitaker
Harry Fry has had just 22 runners on the Flat in the last five years and is 2-3 with those tackling a handicap for the first time. Firmage Burg, owned by JP McManus, is interesting in the 6.55 at Wolverhampton.
Alcala is 4-5 at Newton Abbot but is an unbeaten 4-4 when considering just his chase starts. He’ll find the 3.55 a lot easier than his Grade 2 assignment at Sandown last time.

Dan Skelton does well with new recruits (43-137; 31 per cent strike-rate). Baron Von Chill showed enough in Ireland and wind surgery could enable a bigger effort in the 5.25 at Newton Abbot.
